Your PRP Hair Growth Potential
Every plan starts with a doctor-led consultation with Dr Nick (GMC 6072251) — scalp analysis, medical history and an honest, realistic treatment plan.
What to expect, month by month
Why it takes this long: each follicle rests for around three months before a new hair emerges, so early change is felt as less shedding before it is seen as new growth.
At Rejuvena, PRP is prepared with the WorldPRP® system — 4.6–8 billion platelets per session from a single 25 ml blood draw — and Dr Nick may combine it with PRF (a slow-release fibrin scaffold), microneedling or exosomes depending on your plan. A randomised placebo-controlled trial (Gentile et al., 2015) recorded a mean increase of 33.6 hairs in the treated area compared with placebo — in line with the range above.

One of the biggest misconceptions surrounding hair restoration is that treatments such as PRP simply “make hair grow”. The reality is far more interesting.
What are healthy hair follicles?
Every hair on your scalp grows from a remarkable biological structure known as the hair follicle. Far from being a simple tube that produces hair, the follicle is a highly active mini-organ containing specialised cells. These cells constantly communicate with one another through chemical signalling molecules known as growth factors.
At the base of every healthy follicle lies a small but incredibly important structure called the dermal papilla. This cluster of specialised cells acts as the follicle’s biological control centre, helping regulate hair growth, blood supply, and communication with surrounding stem cells. When the follicle is functioning normally, these signalling pathways allow each hair to repeatedly pass through a healthy cycle of growth, transition, and rest.
However, when the environment surrounding the follicle becomes disrupted—whether through genetics, hormones, ageing, inflammation, stress, or other biological influences—the follicle may gradually become less efficient. Hair can become finer, grow more slowly, spend longer in its resting phase, or shed more readily.
Rather than replacing hair follicles, treatments such as PRP aim to support the follicle’s natural biological environment by delivering a concentrated source of your own naturally occurring growth factors directly to the scalp. These signalling molecules help create conditions that may encourage viable follicles to function more effectively and remain in the active growth phase for longer.
At Rejuvena, this understanding of hair biology forms the foundation of every treatment programme. We believe that successful hair restoration is not simply about performing injections—it’s about supporting the health of the hair follicle itself.

Understanding the hair growth cycle
Healthy hair does not grow continuously. Instead, every individual hair follicle repeatedly progresses through a carefully regulated cycle consisting of three distinct phases.
Anagen (Active Growth)
Lasts 2–7 years. The dermal papilla supplies nutrients and signalling molecules that stimulate cells responsible for producing the hair shaft. PRP aims to extend this phase.
Catagen (Transition)
Lasts 2–3 weeks. Active growth slows, the lower follicle shrinks, and the dermal papilla temporarily separates from the hair.
Telogen (Resting)
Lasts around 3 months. The hair is shed naturally, allowing a new hair to emerge as the follicle re-enters the anagen phase. Shedding 50–100 hairs daily is completely normal.
Why hair becomes thinner?
Hair thinning is a visible sign that this normal cycle has been disrupted. Genetics — most commonly androgenetic alopecia (male- and female-pattern hair loss) — along with hormonal changes, ageing, stress, nutrition, lifestyle, certain medications, and perifollicular microinflammation can alter this cycle. Consequently, follicles begin to produce finer, shorter hairs, spend less time in the growth phase, and remain in the resting phase for longer periods.
Regenerative treatments aim to improve the environment surrounding existing, viable follicles by delivering naturally occurring biological signals that support healthier follicle function.
Why not all PRP treatments are the same
PRP is a biological product created from your own blood, meaning the quality of the final preparation depends entirely on how it is produced. Think of it like fresh coffee: the extraction method and equipment completely alter the final result.
Independent scientific reviews indexed on PubMed establish that the clinical efficacy of PRP relies heavily on the specific preparation protocols and final concentration of the plasma used.
Several factors influence the biological quality of PRP:
Blood Collection
Tube design and handling preserve platelets before processing starts.
Centrifuge Technology
Rotational speed and force alter how cleanly platelets separate from unwanted red blood cells, which peer-reviewed research on PubMed shows can trigger pro-inflammatory cytokines and cause tissue stress.
Platelet Recovery & Integrity
Systems must extract high numbers of functional platelets while protecting them from harsh mechanical stress so they remain intact.
Injection Technique
Accurate depth placement and consistent coverage across the target area dictate final clinical effectiveness.
Typical beauty-clinic PRP vs Rejuvena PRP
The needle is the easy part. What separates a genuine clinical result from an average one is everything that happens before the injection.
| Typical Beauty Clinic PRP | Rejuvena PRP DOCTOR-LED |
|---|---|
| Focus is limited to the injection itself. | Focuses on the entire biological process. |
| Uses variable, unstandardised extraction. | Follows a strict, standardised clinical protocol. |
| Limited explanation of platelet quality. | Detailed biological understanding of the plasma. |
| Treatment sessions may be delegated. | Doctor-led diagnosis and treatment throughout. |
| Rigid, one-size-fits-all approach. | Tailored following an individual consultation. |
Why we chose WorldPRP®
We selected the WorldPRP® system because it delivers a purified, high-yield platelet concentrate while preserving cell integrity. Unlike conventional test-tube systems, WorldPRP uses a patented hourglass-shaped collection tube combined with horizontal-axis centrifugation to isolate pure platelets.
Inside every platelet are alpha granules containing hundreds of growth factors. Once injected, they release these proteins to encourage tissue repair, improve blood supply, and support follicle function.
Higher platelet concentrations mean a greater reservoir of these signalling molecules. Conventional systems often harvest platelet numbers measured only in the millions, significantly limiting their biological potency.
Clinical trials available through PubMed Central (PMC) confirm that targeted, high-purity PRP injections significantly increase localised hair counts, improve skin thickness, and enhance vascular support surrounding active follicles. For example, a randomised placebo-controlled trial (Gentile et al., Stem Cells Translational Medicine, 2015) recorded a mean increase of 33.6 hairs in the treated area compared with placebo. This rigorous scientific standard is why we chose the advanced WorldPRP® architecture.
12ml hourglass tube, labelled
The WorldPRP® tube separates PPP, PRP and PRF volumes from a single 25ml blood draw.
Separated after centrifugation
The plasma and blood layers separate cleanly, ready for the purified platelet concentrate to be drawn off.
PRP vs PRF — what’s the difference?
While both treatments are completely autologous and derived from your own blood, they utilise different biological delivery mechanisms.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
PRP isolates a high concentration of platelets within liquid plasma. Once introduced into the scalp, these platelets activate quickly, releasing an immediate flood of growth factors. It is ideal when a strong, immediate regenerative signal is required.
Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF)
PRF is spun at lower speeds without anticoagulants, forming a delicate, natural fibrin matrix. This matrix acts as a three-dimensional scaffold, trapping the platelets and releasing growth factors slowly and steadily over several days for prolonged stimulation.
Combination therapy — the complete protocol
Rather than choosing one over the other, we frequently combine them. PRP delivers an immediate biological surge, while PRF creates a slow-release environment over the following days. We also integrate Microneedling to create controlled micro-channels that trigger natural healing, and Exosomes—advanced cellular vesicles that carry proteins and signals between cells—to accelerate follicle health from multiple biological angles.

Review and Maintenance
Ongoing tracking of progress, with structured maintenance sessions recommended to sustain long-term growth.
What to expect: your results timeline
Hair restoration relies entirely on your natural biological growth cycles. Improvements manifest incrementally over several months. Treatments support existing, viable follicles—they cannot recreate hair in completely bald areas where follicles have been replaced by scar tissue.
Weeks 1–4
Cellular repair begins beneath the skin surface. Active hair shedding often begins to reduce.
Months 2–3
Follicles shift back into active growth. New fine hairs begin to break through, and hair texture starts to feel stronger.
Months 4–6
Changes become visually apparent. Hair shows improved density, thickness, and coverage across targeted areas.
Beyond 6 Months
Results continue to mature. Periodic maintenance sessions help protect these improvements against ongoing genetic thinning factors.
