Doctor-led verruca removal in Bedford
Persistent plantar warts are assessed before treatment so the diagnosis and depth are clear. Where appropriate, a medical-grade laser plan can target stubborn verruca tissue, with honest guidance on discomfort, repeat sessions, aftercare and recurrence.

A verruca is HPV driven deep into the sole by your own body weight — which is why creams and freezing so often fail. Medical laser reaches the infected tissue at its root.
What is a verruca, and why are they so hard to treat?
A verruca (plantar wart) is caused by specific strains of the human papillomavirus that infect the skin of the foot sole. Unlike hand warts, verrucas are driven inward by the pressure of standing and walking, creating a deep, well-anchored lesion surrounded by a thick callus layer. This callus prevents salicylic acid and freeze sprays from reaching the infected tissue. Patients frequently describe using treatment products for 3–6 months without lasting results.
Key diagnostic features of a verruca include a rough, slightly raised surface; small black dots (thrombosed capillaries) at the centre; pain on direct pressure or lateral squeezing; and an inward growth pattern. Mosaic verrucas — clusters of multiple individual lesions — are particularly challenging with home treatments.
What laser verruca removal treats
At Rejuvena in Bedford, each verruca removal plan starts with a careful assessment to confirm the concern, suitability and realistic next steps.
Two lasers, one precise protocol
Rejuvena treats verrucas with two of the UK’s most advanced laser platforms. Dr. Nick selects and sequences them by verruca depth, callus thickness, location and skin tone.

Lynton Motus AY
The 1064nm Nd:YAG wavelength penetrates to the dermal vessels feeding the verruca and coagulates them — cutting off the blood supply so the HPV-infected tissue dies from within. Moveo™ delivery glides energy in progressively, making it far more comfortable than static-pulse lasers. This is our primary verruca protocol.
- Best for Deep, plantar & recurring verrucas
- Sessions 2–4, spaced 3–4 weeks
- Comfort Moveo™ — near-painless
- Skin types Safe for Fitzpatrick I–VI
Dermablate Cool Laser™
Where a thick callus overlies the verruca, the 2940nm Er:YAG ablates it layer by layer — roughly 20–30 microns per pulse — with minimal heat, exposing the viral core and improving Nd:YAG penetration in the following session.
- Best for Thick callus & mosaic verrucas
- Used as Debulking prep before Nd:YAG
- Precision ~20–30 microns per pulse
- Comfort Topical numbing applied
The verruca removal session — step by step
Assessment
Dr. Nick confirms the diagnosis and assesses verruca depth, size and whether mosaic lesions are present.
Callus preparation
If thick callus is present, it is treated with the Dermablate Er:YAG at low fluence to ablate the overlying tissue and improve laser access to the verruca.
Topical anaesthesia
EMLA cream is applied to the verruca site 30–45 minutes before the Nd:YAG session.
Nd:YAG laser delivery
The Motus AY handpiece is applied in Moveo™ mode, delivering energy progressively across the lesion. Duration: 10–20 minutes per verruca.
Dressing & aftercare
A light dressing and heel pad (if needed) are applied. Written aftercare is provided.
Review
Progress is assessed at the next session or via follow-up communication, and any further sessions are planned.

Mosaic / multiple verrucas (per session): from £195
