Understanding PRX-T33

PRX-T33 is a no-needle bio-revitalisation peel that combines 33% trichloroacetic acid (TCA), hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) and kojic acid to stimulate collagen deep in the dermis and brighten the skin — without the frosting, flaking or downtime of a traditional TCA peel.

What is PRX-T33, and how is it different?

PRX-T33 is a CE-marked medical peel developed in Italy by WiQo (and devised by Italian dermatologist Dr Rossana Castellana), often marketed in the UK as part of the PRX Derm Perfexion range. Unlike a conventional chemical peel, it is not designed to make your skin shed. Instead, the solution is gently massaged into the skin over several minutes — there are no needles and no injections — to work in the deeper layers while leaving the surface intact.

A traditional TCA peel deliberately injures the epidermis, causing the visible “frosting” and days of peeling people associate with chemical peels. In PRX-T33, the hydrogen peroxide buffers the surface-coagulating action of the TCA, so the acid reaches the dermis and stimulates your own fibroblasts to produce new collagen, while the outer skin is largely spared. The result is described as bio-revitalisation — firmer, smoother, brighter skin — rather than exfoliation. The added kojic acid helps even out tone. Because it is non-photosensitising, PRX-T33 can be used all year round, even in summer.

At Rejuvena in Bedford, PRX-T33 is a doctor-led treatment: Dr Nick (MBBS, MRCGP, Diploma in Dermatology, GMC 6072251) assesses your skin and suitability, with the peel delivered by skin therapist Lana under his oversight. If an assessment ever reveals a suspicious or atypical pigmented lesion rather than benign sun damage, Dr Nick assesses it and refers appropriately rather than peeling over it.

The science

How PRX-T33 works — a TCA peel without the peeling

Three active molecules work together to stimulate the dermis and brighten the surface, without the epidermal injury of an old-style acid peel.

TCA 33% · H₂O₂ · kojic acid

Bio-revitalisation, not exfoliation

Trichloroacetic acid at 33% would normally coagulate the surface of the skin. Here, hydrogen peroxide modulates that effect so the TCA penetrates to the dermis and triggers fibroblast stimulation and neocollagenesis — new collagen and elastin remodelling — while the epidermal barrier stays intact. Kojic acid adds a tyrosinase-inhibiting brightening action that helps with uneven tone. The outcome is improved firmness, smoother texture and a brighter, more even complexion built from the inside out.

  • Best for Dullness, early fine lines, mild laxity, uneven tone
  • Modality Topical, massaged in — no needles
  • Downtime Essentially none; a glow the same day
  • Year-round Non-photosensitising, suitable in summer
What it treats

What PRX-T33 can help with

PRX-T33 is a skin-quality and radiance treatment. It targets fine lines, mild skin laxity, dull or tired skin, uneven tone and superficial pigmentation, and some softening of atrophic acne scars and stretch marks. It works well as a standalone “glow” peel and as a complement to other skin-quality treatments such as Profhilo. For stubborn melasma it is the gentler option — we route deeper pigment cases to Cosmelan and our pigmentation treatment in Bedford page.

The session

Your PRX-T33 treatment — step by step

1

Skin assessment with Dr Nick

Dr Nick reviews your skin, goals and full medical history, confirms PRX-T33 is right for you and excludes any contraindications. Where there is any allergy concern, a patch test is arranged first.

2

Cleanse and prep

The skin is thoroughly cleansed and degreased so the solution can be applied evenly. No anaesthetic and no needling are required.

3

Massage-in application

The PRX-T33 solution is massaged into the skin in successive layers. You may feel mild warmth or tingling. The active part of the treatment usually takes around 20–30 minutes — a true “lunchtime” peel.

4

Neutralise and soothe

The solution is removed and a hydrating, barrier-supporting cream is applied. Many people notice an immediate “glow” and tighter feel the same day.

5

Home protocol & review

You will be given a home regime — typically a nourishing cream and daily broad-spectrum SPF — and a plan for your course. Results build gradually as new collagen forms over the following weeks.

A typical PRX-T33 course is 4–6 sessions, around 1–2 weeks apart, with maintenance every 1–3 months. This is typical guidance only — your exact plan, and whether PRX-T33 is suitable, are confirmed at your consultation, and outcomes vary from person to person.

Candidacy, suitability & aftercare

Who it suits

Adults with dull or tired skin, early fine lines, mild laxity, uneven tone and superficial scarring or stretch marks who want visible results with minimal downtime. Because there is no epidermal injury, it is comparatively low-risk across all Fitzpatrick skin types — though every skin still needs professional assessment.

Who is not suitable

PRX-T33 is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with an active skin infection in the area (such as cold sores, bacterial or fungal infection, or inflamed acne), on broken, sunburnt or irritated skin, during a rosacea flare, after recent oral isotretinoin (Roaccutane), or with a known TCA or aspirin allergy. It is also not a substitute for filler (no volume) or surgery for significant laxity.

Side effects & aftercare

PRX-T33 is generally well tolerated. Expect transient warmth, redness and a tight, glowing feeling for a few hours; mild flaking can still occur in thicker-skinned areas, and mild puffiness is possible around delicate areas. As with any treatment acting on pigment, there is a small risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, especially in darker skin if sun-exposed — so daily broad-spectrum SPF, sun avoidance and pausing harsh actives for a few days are essential. Any chronic pigment condition such as melasma is managed and improved, never “cured”.

I recently had a Diamond Glow Facial and was very pleased with the experience. The treatment left my skin feeling deeply cleansed, refreshed, and smooth. My face looked brighter after the facial, and my skin felt much cleaner and healthier. Lana was professional and made me feel comfortable throughout the treatment. I would recommend this facial to anyone looking to give their skin a thorough cleanse and refresh.

FAQ

PRX-T33 FAQs — Bedford

What is PRX-T33 and how does it work?
PRX-T33 is a no-needle bio-revitalisation peel combining 33% TCA, hydrogen peroxide and kojic acid. The hydrogen peroxide buffers the TCA so it reaches the dermis and stimulates new collagen, while the surface of the skin is spared. The kojic acid helps brighten and even tone. It is massaged into the skin — there are no injections.
Does PRX-T33 actually peel the skin, and is there any downtime?
Unlike a traditional TCA peel, PRX-T33 is designed not to cause visible peeling or frosting. You can expect a few hours of warmth, redness and a tight, glowing feeling, and some people get mild flaking in thicker-skinned areas — but most return to normal activities the same day. It is often called a “lunchtime” peel.
How many PRX-T33 sessions will I need and how far apart?
A typical course is 4–6 sessions around 1–2 weeks apart, with maintenance every 1–3 months. This is general guidance — your exact plan is confirmed at your consultation with Dr Nick, and results build gradually rather than overnight.
PRX-T33 vs BioRePeel — what is the difference?
Both are no-/low-downtime TCA-based bio-stimulating peels. PRX-T33 is needle-free, frost-free and massaged in, with hydrogen-peroxide-buffered 33% TCA plus kojic-acid brightening for collagen stimulation and glow. BioRePeel is its own branded formulation. We help you choose between them at consultation based on your skin and goals.
Is PRX-T33 safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
No — PRX-T33 is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding because of limited safety data. Dr Nick reviews your full medical history at consultation and will recommend alternatives if needed.
Does PRX-T33 help acne scars and pigmentation?
It can soften superficial atrophic acne scars and improve uneven tone and superficial pigmentation through collagen stimulation and kojic-acid brightening — but it softens and improves rather than erases. For stubborn melasma we usually recommend Cosmelan and our pigmentation treatment in Bedford. Chronic pigment conditions are managed and improved, not cured, and sun protection is essential.
What are the side effects of PRX-T33?
Most people only experience transient warmth, redness, tightness and a glow for a few hours, sometimes mild flaking or puffiness. Less common effects include prolonged redness, irritation and a small risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, particularly in darker skin if sun-exposed. Daily SPF and sun avoidance materially reduce this risk.
When will I see results and how long do they last?
Many people notice an immediate glow on the day, with firmness and tone improving progressively over the weeks following the course as new collagen forms. Results are cumulative and are maintained with ongoing maintenance sessions and good sun protection — they are not permanent.
How much does PRX-T33 cost in Bedford?
Pricing depends on the area treated and your recommended course, so it is confirmed at your consultation — with no obligation to proceed. Book a consultation to get a clear plan and price for your skin.
