Loose & Crepey Neck Skin Treatment in Bedford
Doctor-led, non-surgical treatment for loose, crepey and sagging neck skin, horizontal neck lines and early “turkey neck”, with HIFU, radiofrequency tightening, Morpheus8 and Profhilo, assessed and overseen by Dr Nick.
Loose neck skin is a normal sign of ageing, not a disease. Mild-to-moderate laxity often responds well to non-surgical treatment; advanced cases are honestly assessed, and referred where surgery would serve you better.
What causes loose & sagging neck skin?
Loose neck skin (also called sagging, crepey or “turkey” neck) is caused by age-related collagen and elastin loss, sun damage and laxity of the platysma muscle, and mild-to-moderate cases can be improved non-surgically at Rejuvena Laser & Aesthetic Clinic in Bedford using HIFU, radiofrequency skin tightening, Morpheus8 and Profhilo under doctor-led care. It is a benign, cosmetic ageing concern rather than a single problem, and it usually combines three overlapping changes.
The first is dermal change: from the mid-to-late twenties, the skin makes less type I and III collagen and elastin, holds less hyaluronic acid and water, and gradually thins, producing fine “crepe-paper” texture, horizontal neck lines and loss of recoil. The second is platysmal change: the platysma is a thin, sheet-like muscle running from the upper chest over the front and sides of the neck to the jaw, and as its medial edges separate and lose tone you can see vertical “platysmal bands” (cords) and a softening of the neck-to-chin angle. The third is volume and structural change: descent or redistribution of fat under the chin, plus changes to the underlying jawline and bone, deepen the apparent sag.
Most of the visible damage is driven by the sun: up to around 80–90% of visible skin ageing is attributed to UV exposure, and the neck and décolletage are chronically exposed yet often under-protected. Smoking, poor nutrition, repeated downward flexion looking at phones (“tech neck”) and significant or rapid weight loss (including after GLP-1 weight-loss medication) all accelerate or unmask laxity.
Book a consultation and Dr Nick will assess your neck skin honestly, explain whether a non-surgical approach can help and recommend the right combination for you.
Non-surgical neck tightening at Rejuvena Bedford
There is no single “best” neck treatment: the right route depends on whether your main issue is laxity, crepey texture, horizontal lines or vertical bands. Dr Nick maps your treatment to your skin, often combining modalities. Every option below is delivered under doctor-led oversight.
HIFU neck tightening
High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound delivers precise thermal coagulation points at deeper layers, including the SMAS foundation, to trigger neocollagenesis and a gradual lift. It is well suited to sagging neck and jawline laxity where you want tightening without breaking the skin surface.
- Best for Sagging neck & jawline laxity
- Builds over 8–12 weeks, up to ~6 months
Forma™ RF skin tightening
Radiofrequency heats the deeper skin to a therapeutic temperature, stimulating collagen contraction and remodelling with no downtime. A comfortable option for milder laxity and crepey skin, usually delivered as a short course.
- Best for Mild laxity & crepey texture
- Downtime None to minimal
Morpheus8 microneedling
Radiofrequency microneedling combines fine needles with deep RF heat to remodel collagen across multiple depths, often the strongest response for crepey, lax neck skin and texture, with a short recovery of redness and grid marks.
- Best for Crepey skin, texture & deeper tightening
- Downtime Redness/grid marks a few days
Profhilo & polynucleotides
Profhilo is stabilised hyaluronic acid that hydrates the dermis and stimulates collagen and elastin (bio-remodelling) rather than adding volume, improving skin quality, hydration and crepey texture. Polynucleotides are a regenerative injectable that can complement skin-quality work.
- Best for Crepey skin, hydration & horizontal lines
- Protocol Often 2 sessions ~4 weeks apart

What to expect: your neck treatment journey
Consultation & skin analysis
Dr Nick examines your neck, grades the laxity, texture and any platysmal banding, and rules out anything that should be assessed medically first. You will get an honest view of what non-surgical treatment can (and cannot) achieve.
Your tailored plan
Based on whether your concern is laxity, crepey skin, lines or bands, we recommend a single modality or a combination (for example HIFU or Forma for tightening plus Profhilo for skin quality), with the number of sessions explained up front.
Treatment
Sessions are carried out in clinic. Energy treatments use comfort settings and cooling; injectable bio-remodelling uses a small number of precise points. The neck is an anatomically delicate area, which is exactly why delivery is doctor-led.
Recovery & downtime
This varies by modality: Forma has little to no downtime; HIFU may cause short-lived tenderness; Morpheus8 leaves redness and grid marks for a few days; Profhilo can leave small bumps that settle within about 24 hours and occasional light bruising. Strict SPF afterwards is essential.
Results & maintenance
Collagen remodelling is gradual: firming typically builds over 8–12 weeks and can continue for several months. Because ageing is ongoing, results are maintained rather than permanent, with top-up sessions over time.
Realistic neck results
Outcomes are individual and depend on your starting severity, skin quality, age and lifestyle. The images below are placeholders; real before-and-after photos will be published with patient consent and shown unretouched.
Because loose-neck treatment is matched to your skin (and may combine HIFU, radiofrequency, Morpheus8 or Profhilo over a course of sessions) pricing is confirmed at your consultation, where Dr Nick gives you a clear, written plan with no obligation.
Why choose Rejuvena for neck tightening in Bedford?
The neck is delicate, and honesty matters. I tell patients clearly when non-surgical treatment can help — and when a surgical opinion would serve them better.
Doctor-led assessment
Every plan is assessed and overseen by Dr Nick (MBBS, MRCGP, Dip Dermatology), with our skin therapist Lana supporting you through each session.
Honest candidacy
We never oversell. If your laxity is too advanced for non-surgical treatment, we say so and refer appropriately.
Multiple modalities
HIFU, radiofrequency, Morpheus8 and Profhilo under one roof: matched and combined for your specific neck concern.
Local to Bedford
Serving Bedford, Kempston, Biddenham, Bromham, Wootton and across Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes.
Who it suits and who it doesn’t
Good candidates
Adults with mild-to-moderate crepey or lax neck skin, early horizontal lines or early loss of jaw/neck definition who want a non-surgical option, accept gradual and natural improvement, and are willing to maintain results over time, including those with weight-loss-related laxity wanting skin-quality support.
Not suitable / referred
Those expecting neck-lift results without surgery, severe skin redundancy or heavy submental fat (better suited to a surgical opinion), pregnancy or breastfeeding, active infection or skin disease in the area, and relevant contraindications for energy or injectable treatments. Any unexplained neck lump or lesion is not treated cosmetically. Dr Nick assesses and refers appropriately.
Honest expectations
Non-surgical treatment improves and firms; it does not match a surgical neck lift or remove large amounts of loose skin. Ageing is ongoing, so we manage and maintain rather than “cure”. All cosmetic procedures carry some risk, which is why delivery is doctor-led and GMC-registered.
